Tindra presents a tasteful and authentic folk music idiom with imaginative arrangements that range from tender and sensitive to vibrant and dynamic. The trios repertoire comprises both traditional songs and the member´s own compositions featuring lyrics by Norwegian poets.
Their respect for the distinctive character of folk music and their musical insight and energy give their audiences an intense and direct encounter with melodies in bold, nuanced and colourful arrangements. The group’s debut album, “Lukkeleg vaking”, was released in 2006, and was nominated for Spellemannprisen (Norwegian Grammy). In 2005 the trio was one of the finalists in the Norwegian Concert Institute’s programme for launching new folk music artists, Intro-folk. Tindra has presented concerts at many of Norway’s major festivals, including the Førde Folk Music Festival and the Riddu Riddu Festival. They have also toured in Belgium, India and Vietnam. “… these musicians speak for themselves – and do it so directly that nobody listening to them can escape.” Bergens Tidende, Norway Read more about Tindra at www.tindratrio.com and www.myspace.com/tindratrio Musicians Åshild Vetrhus: folk song Jorun Marie Kvernberg: fiddle, Hardanger fiddle and vocals Irene Tillung: accordion Discography Lukkeleg vaking, ta:lik 2006 Awards Kvarts Prize 2005 |
